Behind every SALMASTRA piece there’s a journey of research, change and passion.

SALMASTRA was born in Castiglioncello, the town on the Tuscan coast where I was born and raised, known as the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian”.

After studying fashion design in Florence, I worked in the industry for several years. Seeing how clothes and accessories are designed – including production processes in China – I began to feel distant from a system that felt more and more impersonal to me, driven only by market logic and paying little attention to people or the environment. Seeing this world up close led me to question the meaning of my creative work.

Wanting a change of perspective, I left for Australia on a one-way ticket. It was an experience that taught me a lot: I did all kinds of jobs until I landed at a well-known bikini factory for strippers. There, working in production, I finally got the hang of the sewing machine, which until then had been a “tough” subject for me.

Back in Italy I had a short stint in luxury retail, but once again I realized that world wasn’t for me. I felt the need to create something authentic, something with a face, a story and real value. So I started designing and sewing my first swimsuit prototypes on my own, experimenting with shapes, materials and fit.

In 2019 I started offering my creations at markets, at events and in my small workshop. Since then SALMASTRA has grown slowly, with no shortcuts. Every piece is still born from an entirely handmade process: from the first idea to the pattern, from cutting, strictly by hand, to sewing, all the way to direct and online sales. Behind all of this, it’s almost entirely just me.

Craftsmanship isn’t simply the way I make my swimsuits: it’s the very heart of the project. It means time, care, experience and listening. It means being able to see real women’s bodies up close, understand what they need and keep improving every style. Thanks to this direct exchange with you, I developed the pieces that are SALMASTRA’s identity today: essential swimsuits, raw-cut, with no unnecessary seams, light as a second skin. Swimsuits that flatter the body without constraining it, dry in a few minutes and combine comfort, femininity and freedom of movement. Swimsuits that make you feel beautiful. Choosing SALMASTRA means choosing a product made entirely by me in Tuscany, far from the logic of mass production, and supporting a more mindful way of making things, where every piece is the result of hands, experience and constant research.

A style that’s feminine but practical, bold but essential, sensual and free, made to accompany real women and to last.

I deeply believe that today, more than ever, it’s important to rediscover the value ofartisan intelligence: that very human ability to create with care, knowledge and responsibility.

SALMASTRA was born from this belief and from the wish to carry it forward, one swimsuit at a time.
